Power and Resistance at Work

There are many levels of power in the workplace, from the power of a manager over their employees to the power of personal resilience, which all have an effect on the culture of an organization. Most types of power are intimately connected to the control that someone has over a particular aspect of the workplace, the more control that a person has, the more power they can utilize. This is why leaders are so afraid to lose control in the workplace, once their control is gone, so is their power. Power can be used in many different ways in the workplace, when in conversation with a superior, power can be used by the superior to influence and control the direction of the conversation whether they intend to or not. Power is not always something that is tangible or intentional, it is there for better or for worse.
